Principal

 
   

    Mr. Stephen LUI Ki Cheung, Acting Principal, graduated from Grantham College of Education and Northcote College of Education respectively in the seventies majoring in Mathematics education; obtained a BSc(Hons)( 2 nd Class Division 1) in Mathematics and Physics from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and was one of the 10 outstanding graduates of the year on graduation. Mr. LUI practises life-long learning. He has studied for a few Master¡¦s degrees through distance learning and part-time studies. He obtained a MEd (Curriculum) from Southern Queensland University, Australia, a Postgraduate Diploma (Education Indicators) and a MA(Education Research) from University of Durham, U.K.

    Mr. LUI has rich experience in teaching and school administration including: 18 years as a frontline teacher in primary and secondary schools, 15 years as an inspector of schools (during 1999-2001, Mr. LUI was appointed Principal of Cheung Chau Government Secondary School by the Director of Education to turn around the school) and 7 years as a secondary school principal (Leung Sing Tak College). During his principalship in these two schools, Mr. LUI successfully led his teams to improve the management of the schools and raise students¡¦ public examination results tremendously. Mr. LUI¡¦s success stories were reported in the local newspapers.

    Mr. LUI was a member of the HKEAA Secondary Mathematics Subject Committee and a moderator of public examination papers between 1990 and 2003. From 1996 to 2005, as a part-time lecturer at the School of Continuing Education, Hong Kong Baptist University, he taught mathematics education and research methods to BEd students and was elected one of the best teachers of the year. From 2004 to present, he has been an invited speaker on ¡§How to turn a school into an effective one¡¨ to the aspiring or new principals attending the Principal Courses organized by the HKU, HKIEd and other tertiary institutions. Mr. LUI has been a popular guest speaker invited to primary and secondary schools on their staff development days to share his success experience in team building and improving students¡¦ standards. Mr. LUI is at present a school manager of Leung Sing Tak College, a member of the Editorial Committee of the Hong Kong Teachers¡¦ Centre Journal, a regular writer of an education column of a newspaper and an invited commentator on education policies of a few newspapers.

    Mr. LUI is enthusiastic about teaching . Last year, he took the initiative to provide daily after-school tutorials on mathematics and physics for students who needed them. He led secondary mathematics teachers to do the same on mathematics for the lagging behind students to help raise their results . During the holidays and the summer holidays, Mr. LUI respectively gave extra lessons to S.7 students on Pure Mathematics and taught the pre-M1 summer course for the would-be MS3 students. In the two previous schools of which he was principal, he normally taught mathematics to students of two public examination classes every year. His students¡¦ public examination results were always very good.

    While taking up the acting position, Mr. LUI together with the two deputy principals and two assistant principals, under the leadership of the School Management Committee and following the direction of whole-person development in the spiritual, moral, cognitive, aesthetic, physical and social growth of students, will lead collaboratively to establish and streamline the internal management structure, further improve the teaching facilities, fine tune the curriculums and raise teaching and learning effectiveness.

    The school will operate in a more open and transparent manner, taking parents¡¦ suggestions and advice so that the school and parents will work substantially closely together to provide quality education to our students and children.
